CANNABIS - yes or no?
Editor's note: David Asson is a Sisters City Councilor. He notes that all comments in this article are solely his own.

Four years ago, in November 2014, Sisters voted narrowly to permit marijuana dispensaries to open for business, as did the entire state of Oregon.

Permits to replace freedom of the hills
Are you a hiker, backpacker or climber - or a person who just loves getting outside? Well, if you haven't heard, your ability to access five of Oregon's premier wilderness areas is about to change.

Kicking a bad habit

SPRD is turning 21
The Sisters Park & Recreation tax district turns 21 next year. We are eight long-time Sisters Country residents who helped raise the Sisters Park & Recreation District since its infancy. Support programs that make Sisters a community
My family and I would like to convey our strong support of both the Sisters School District and Sisters Park & Recreation District five-year operating levies on the upcoming May 15 election. For the community of Sisters, the saying "it takes a village" not only applies to the villagers but also to the public entities that serve the village.

Choosing an electric car is not about battery recycling
After reading the well-written electric car article by Ethan Ferwalt, I realized that the article was actually about lithium-ion battery toxicity, hazards, and lack of recycling and should not be interpreted as: "electric vehicles are bad." I also found it ironic that directly under the article was an ad for a LI battery chainsaw.

SCA needs a helping hand
How many times last winter did we grab the hand or arm of a friend and carefully, cautiously inch our way across ice-covered sidewalks and roads? Walking on a slippery slope of any kind is best done when we hold hands. In our current culture, raising children can be a very slippery slope.
